– A great story about how they eliminated chronic back pain with chiropractic treatments!
When I was young, I played sports everyday and seemed to injure my neck or back at least once a month. I would visit a chiropractor for nearly every problem I had, regardless of what it was. I even broke my arm once and went to the chiropractor first. I simply trusted his opinion the most when it came to sports injuries and my personal well-being.
More often than not, my problems were related to a hit or tackle that pulled a muscle or knocked my back out of place. In one or two visits I would be feeling just like new, like it never even happened. That is the beauty of being young; with a little help from my chiropractor, my body would heal itself virtually overnight.
Now, 25 years later, things are much different. I am still very active in sports, such as basketball, mountain biking and snowboarding, but my body doesn’t heal nearly as fast. In hindsight, I wish I had kept up with “maintenance” on my neck & back by visiting a chiropractor on a somewhat regular basis. But instead, I went nearly 10 years without seeing a chiropractor.
When I was injured, I usually just waited it out, sometimes months, for the pain to go away on its own. Eventually all these small injuries started to add up and it got to the point where I was in constant pain. Simple tasks like getting in and out of a car or putting on socks became difficult and very painful. After about a year of living like this, I realized that the pain was not going away and I needed to get help before it got worse.
Over the following year, I would see 3 different chiropractors and each would tell me the exact same thing. They all thought I would get some relief from treatments, but that 100% recovery is probably not possible, since I waited so long to get treated. This was very discouraging, since I couldn’t do any sports or exercise in my current condition.
Finally, I decided to try one more chiropractor before I gave up for good. At first, the results were promising, because I was able to move better and with less pain, but then things plateaued. I was at the end of my treatments and I still had a irritating pain in my lower back. My chiropractor recommended a series of exercises to do on my own and said I should come back in a month or two.
Exactly two weeks after my last visit, I woke up completely pain free, the treatments had worked! After nearly two years of chronic lower back pain, I was 100% cured. It seemed like it was too good to be true, so I was careful not to do anything to hurt it again. Today it’s been almost a full year and the lower back pain is still gone.
I am very thankful to all of my chiropractors and have learned to get every injury, no matter how insignificant, checked out immediately. If you are experiencing back or neck pain, I urge you to keep trying and keep working with chiropractors to fix the problem before it becomes worse. My life would have never been the same, but now I can do anything I want, no longer limited by pain and mobility issues!
