Resolution of Severe Migraines Following Chiropractic Care

The Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research published a case study on May 7, 2018, documenting the resolution of severe hemiplegic migraines after chiropractic care. Hemiplegic migraine is a rare and severe form of migraine headache.

Resolution of Severe Migraines Following Chiropractic Care - Austin Texas Chiropractor Headaches Neck Pain Whiplash Car Truck Motor Vehicle Accident CollisionThe American Migraine Foundation describes the condition as, “Hemiplegic migraine is a rare form of migraine where people experience weakness on one side of their body (hemiplegia) in addition to the migraine headache attack. The weakness is a form of migraine aura and occurs with other forms of typical migraine aura like changes in vision, speech or sensation.”

The study notes that migraines are a common ailment affecting about 12% of the population. It is three times more prevalent in women than in men and is most common in people between the ages of 22 and 55 years. There is some familial tendency with about 50% of those who suffer from migraines having a parent with the same condition.

In this case, a 36-year-old woman suffering from migraine headaches presented herself to a chiropractor. She had never been to a chiropractor before. Her migraines began when she was 17-years-old and had been getting progressively worse with time. Two years prior to seeking chiropractic, her medical doctor diagnosed her with hemiplegic migraines. The woman would typically have an episode every other month with each migraine episode lasting from between two weeks to a full month. During her migraines, she would experience numbness over the left side of her body including her face.

Her history records that at the age of 16, she was in a motor vehicle accident where she was thrown out of the bed of a pickup truck. From this accident, she suffered two sprained ankles and a whiplash injury. She was currently on two medications for migraines and bipolar disorder.

A chiropractic examination was performed which included static and motion palpation, range of motion tests and neck x-rays. It was determined from the tests that subluxations were present in the woman’s neck. Chiropractic care was started to address the patient’s issues.

On her second adjustment visit, one week after her first visit, the woman reported that she did not have a migraine episode since receiving her first adjustment. On her third visit the following week, she reported having only one “traditional migraine” for one week from what she attributed to was “sleeping wrong.” On her fourth visit, she reported that she did not have any migraines of any type since her previous visit that week before. A follow-up was conducted seven months later at which time the woman reported that she was still migraine-free.

In their discussion the authors of the study state, “Spinal adjustment is recommended for the management of patients with episodic or chronic migraine with or without aura.” They continue by explaining subluxation and the central nervous system, “The central nervous system seems be the ultimate source of migraine. The possibility that abnormal brain hyperexcitability starts migraine attacks is now widely accepted, and the disease threshold seems to be determined by genetic predisposition.”

Improvement in Concussion Symptoms with Chiropractic Care

A study was published in the January 2018 issue of the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics documenting the improvement of concussion symptoms of headache, poor concentration and photophobia in a young boy who had suffered a traumatic accident days earlier. Sometimes called mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), the authors of this study used both these terms interchangeably to describe the same condition.

Improvement in Concussion Symptoms with Chiropractic Care - Austin Chiropractor Sports Injuries Atheletes Celebrity Care Headaches Neck PainAccording to the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s Medline Plus website, “A concussion is a type of brain injury. It involves a short loss of normal brain function. It happens when a hit to the head or body causes your head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, creating chemical changes in your brain.” Estimates of the number of concussions range from 2.5 to 3 million cases each year in the U.S. alone.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control list a number of symptom and danger signs associated with concussion. They include headache that gets worse and does not go away, weakness, numbness or decreased coordination, repeated vomiting or nausea, slurred speech, one pupil larger than the other, convulsions or seizures, or a loss of consciousness.

In this case, a 13-year-old boy was brought by his mother to a chiropractor in Auckland, New Zealand. The boy was suffering from a variety of symptoms related to a concussion. Five days earlier, he had suffered a skateboard accident where he had hit his head. After his fall, the boy was unconscious for 30 seconds. The boy also was suffering with a headache, a decrease in his concentration level, a moderately sore neck, and increased sensitivity to sound and light. His head pain would increase when he walked or laughed.

An examination was performed which revealed an increased sensitivity to light as well as a decrease in coordination. Static palpation, motion palpation, and spinal examination procedures revealed the presence of subluxation in the boy’s spine. Specific spinal adjustments were started to address the subluxations.

According the study, the boy reported significant symptomatic relief after the first visit. These immediate improvements included improved concentration as well as less sensitivity to light. After his second visit, he reported that his headache was no longer constant. Over the next several visits, the boy reported improvement in all symptoms and stated he was “feeling freer.” His condition continued to improve so that by the eighth visit, he reported a complete resolution of all symptoms.

In their conclusion the authors wrote, “This case illustrates how concussion symptoms, specifically headaches, concentration, and photophobia may improve in patients receiving chiropractic care. Further clinical research is warranted to investigate the efficacy of subluxation based chiropractic care in relation to the improvement of concussion symptoms.”

Glaucoma Patient’s Eye Pressure Helped Under Chiropractic Care

On June 1, 2017, the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research published a study documenting the improvement in intraocular pressure of a patient who was diagnosed with borderline glaucoma. On their website, the American Academy of Ophthalmology answers the question of what is glaucoma by saying, “Glaucoma is a disease that damages your eye’s optic nerve. It usually happens when fluid builds up in the front part of your eye. That extra fluid increases the pressure in your eye, damaging the optic nerve.”

's Eye Pressure Helped Under Chiropractic Care - Chiropractor in Austin TX Best Reviews Healthgrades Google Yelp Nextdoor AppThe authors of this study report that glaucoma affects between 1% and 3.4% of the population. It is the second leading cause of blindness, behind diabetes. Estimates are that 60.5 million people worldwide had glaucoma in 2010, with that number expected to rise to 79.6 million people suffering with this condition by the year 2020. The medical approach to this problem has been medications designed to reduce intraocular pressure.

In this case, a 40-year-old mother of two went to the chiropractor because she was suffering from numbness in her arms and hands which began two weeks earlier. She rated her symptoms as five out of ten with ten being unbearable. Additionally, she related that she also suffered from a large number of issues that included, neck pain, shoulder pain, dizziness, headaches, migraines, vertigo, anxiety, low back pain, right hip pain and clicking, numbness in the bottom of her feet, chronic fatigue, and cervical and lumbar intervertebral disc problems.

Twelve years earlier, she had what was described as a sledding incident resulting in constant neck tightness from then forward. Her lower back issues began fourteen years earlier when her son was born. She suffered from headaches three times per week for the past 28 years. Several times per year, she would develop a migraine headache that she rates as an eight out of ten in severity. Additionally, she was diagnosed by her ophthalmologist with borderline glaucoma as her steady intraocular pressure was rising, going from 14.5 mmHg to 18 mmHg.

A chiropractic examination was performed which included a physical examination, paraspinal thermal and static surface electromyography scans, and spinal x-rays. The presence of vertebral subluxations was determined, and specific chiropractic care was started.

A re-examination and assessment was made after about two and a half months of chiropractic care. The patient reported moderate improvement in her low back pain and her headaches. She reported that she noticed much improvement in neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, and dizziness. She also reported total resolution of the numbness she was experiencing in both her hands and feet.

During the course of her care, the woman was asked to rate the improvement of her symptoms. The study records that by the fourth visit, she reported a 30% improvement in her overall condition. On the sixth visit, she reported a 40% improvement. On the thirteenth visit, she reported a 70% improvement, and on the 15th visit, she reported a 90% improvement in her overall condition. She also reported that she was able to avoid carpal tunnel surgery which was previously being considered.

The woman also had a re-examination with her ophthalmologist about two months into her chiropractic care. It was noted that her progression of elevation in intraocular pressure not only ceased, but reversed. Because of this positive change, her ophthalmologist decided that there was no need for medical intervention.

Failed Neck Surgery Helped by Chiropractic

The Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research published a study on May 18, 2017, documenting the improvement of neck pain and migraines in a patient who had previously undergone neck surgery. Although some people are apprehensive about seeing a chiropractor after having had spinal surgery, this study and many others, along with thousands of clinical accounts, demonstrate that many people who have had spinal surgery receive benefit from chiropractic care.

Failed Neck Surgery Helped by Chiropractic - Chiropractor in Austin TX for Pain Relief Motor Vehicle Accident PI LOP AttorneyThis study begins by discussing the importance of a normal forward curve in the neck. A normal curve not only helps the neck absorb shock, but helps the head be in a more normal upright position. The authors wrote, “The loss of cervical lordosis and anterior head posture has long been identified with numerous significant health issues. These health issues include cervical, shoulder, and headache pain. The loss of cervical curvature also causes anatomical changes to the cervical spine including a shortening of the anterior or posterior vertebral column.”

A loss of the normal cervical curve can also result in long-term degenerative issues. The study points out, “The loss of cervical curve results in degenerative changes to the cervical vertebrae and discs. This degenerative process has been shown to be the result of poor posture, prolonged periods of sitting, sedentary lifestyle, and obesity. When the cervical curvature is lost, these degenerative changes can lead to an early increased rate of degeneration and associated cervical pain.”

In this case, a 43-year-old woman went to the chiropractor for help with long-term neck pain and stiffness. Over the past 11 years, she had also been suffering with frequent and severe migraines, sleep deprivation, shoulder pain and weight issues. In her history, she noted a past car accident and that her work requires her to stand for 10 hours a day which she believe contributes to fatigue and poor posture.

Her medical history for her pain included steroids and other medications. Additionally, she had spinal surgery where a disc was removed at the level of her 5th and 6th cervical vertebrae, and a fusion was performed. Unfortunately, these medical approaches did not give the woman any relief. Because of this, she considered chiropractic as her last resort.

A chiropractic examination was performed which included a detailed postural analysis and spinal x-rays. Based upon the findings, specific chiropractic care was started appropriate to the patient’s condition and her surgical history.

After 36 visits, an update comparison was performed and revealed that the woman’s neck curve had shown a significant 12 degree improvement. Additionally, she reported that she felt improvements in her neck and upper back pain, an increase in her energy level, and an improvement in the frequency, duration, and severity of migraine headaches. Overall, she noted that she felt improvement in the activities of her daily life.

In explaining the results in their conclusion, the authors wrote, “Loss of cervical curve and other postural distortions result in adverse mechanical tension and distortion of tissue. This adverse mechanical tension leads to degeneration of vertebral discs and facet joints.” They continued, “In this case study, the patient’s posture and spinal alignment were corrected and as a result, the cervical lordosis and left head translation were improved.”

Resolution of Chronic Headaches and Neck Pain with Chiropractic

From the May 11, 2017, edition of the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research comes a case study of a woman who had been suffering with long-term headaches and neck pain being helped by chiropractic. Headaches are the most common type of pain and one of the leading reasons that people miss work.

Resolution of Chronic Headaches and Neck Pain with Chiropractic - Austin TX Chiropractor for Personal Injury Car Accident Truck Collision Motorcycle Care Best Google Yelp ReviewsThe Mayo clinic website defines tension headaches by saying, “A tension headache is generally a diffuse, mild to moderate pain in your head that’s often described as feeling like a tight band around your head. A tension headache (tension-type headache) is the most common type of headache, and yet its causes aren’t well-understood.”

This study begins by noting that tension headaches are the most common type of headaches. They report that about 42% of the population suffers headaches. They also note that neck pain is also very common affecting about 70% of the population at some time. People with headaches usually have neck pain in 90% of the cases.

The study lists many types of treatments for headaches including over-the-counter or prescription pharmaceuticals, injections, physiotherapy, massage therapy, spinal manipulation therapy (SMT), and chiropractic adjustments.

Headaches are one of the more common problems that cause people to seek chiropractic. In these cases, it is often found that subluxations are present and there is an alteration to the normal forward neck curvature.

In this case, a 55-year-old woman suffering from chronic headaches, neck and shoulder pain and sinus pressure went to the chiropractor. Eight years earlier, she was involved in a car accident where she hit her head. She was also involved in a earlier accident where her head struck the windshield. After this accident, she immediately felt neck and shoulder pain. In addition to these car accidents, the woman was also struck in the face by a hockey puck that was estimated to be traveling at about 90 miles an hour. This injury required 11 sutures.

The woman had been suffering with headaches for the past 4 years. These headaches would get so bad that she described them as pounding, and often caused her to vomit. Her medical doctor told her that these headaches were caused by dust, dirt, and mold.

An examination was performed that showed elevated blood pressure, a decreased neck range of motion, and other postural irregularities. X-rays were also taken and showed a reversal of what should be a normal forward cervical curve. Additionally, an x-ray from the back of her neck showed that her head was laterally translated to her right making her head look like it had been pushed to her right side. Based upon all the findings, chiropractic care was started.

After 36 visits, the woman was re-assessed to determine the progress that had been made. She reported that her headaches were gone and that her neck pain was reduced to negligible. Her neck range of motion had also returned to normal and no longer caused pain. A follow-up x-ray from the back of the neck was performed showing that the lateral translation of her head had been corrected.

The authors summed up this case by saying, “This report documents the successful outcome in a 55-year old patient with chronic headaches as well as neck and shoulder pain with a lateral head shift posture.”

Arnold-Chiari Malformation Symptoms Gone Under Chiropractic Care: A Case Study

On May 1, 2017, the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research published a case study documenting the improvement of a 6-year-old boy with symptoms from Arnold-Chiari Malformation being helped by chiropractic. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, “Chiari Malformations (CMs) are structural defects in the cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance.”

Arnold-Chiari Malformation Symptoms Gone Under Chiropractic Care - Austin Texas Pediatic Chiropractor For Kids Babies InfantsSome form of Chiari Malformation, also known as “Arnold-Chiari Malformation” (ACM), is found in about 1 in every 1000 people.  There are four types of CMs each with a different type of malformation and severity. This condition is more common in women than men and can cause symptoms of headache, neck pain, vertigo, sensory changes, and lack of voluntary coordination of muscle movements. Other symptoms can also included leg weakness, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, speech disorders, loss of consciousness, and scoliosis.

In this case, a 6-year-old boy was brought to the chiropractor by his parents. The boy had previously received a diagnosis of Arnold-Chiari Malformation that was confirmed by an MRI. He was suffering from unrelenting daily headaches that began at the age of three. The history revealed that at the age of three the boy had fallen off the back-end of a toy wagon after the wagon was jerked forward by another child. The fall caused him to hit the back of his head on the ground. His parents reported that about 2-3 weeks later their son started having headaches.

The boy’s headaches were made worse by movement of the head which also created neck pain as well. Months after his headaches started, the parents noticed that the boy also had a hearing loss, and developed an ear infection. After a number of unsuccessful medical treatments, an MRI was done from which a diagnosis of ACM was made. The options recommended by the pediatric neurologist were either surgery or to seek an alternative type of care. The boy’s parents decided to try the alternative direction and brought their son to the chiropractor.

A chiropractic examination was performed focusing on the upper neck area near the brain stem. The examination included paraspinal thermographic scans and cervical spine x-rays. The conclusion of the examination was that subluxation was present in the upper neck. With this information, specific forms of chiropractic adjustments were started.

As care continued, follow-up x-rays and thermographic studies were performed and confirmed the ongoing correction of subluxation. The results of the care were that the boy reported a discontinuation of his headaches as well as no more motion sickness. Eventually, he had recovered enough that he was able to return to sports activities.

In their conclusion, the authors noted that one single case can not draw definitive conclusions, but they commented, “This case study has shown a potential link between removing upper cervical vertebral subluxation and the reduction of symptoms concomitant of ACM and an overall increase in quality of life for this patient.”

Seizures Stopped Under Chiropractic Care

How Common is Epilepsy? Does Chiropractic Care Help Seizures?

The Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research published a case study on February 23, 2017, documenting chiropractic bringing about the resolution of seizures of a woman suffering from epilepsy. The authors of the study define epilepsy by saying, “Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes seizures in the absence of any underlying medical condition such as fever.”

Seizures Stopped Under Chiropractic Care Austin TX Chiropractor Head Neck Injury Pain Nervous System Best Reviews1Epilepsy is fairly common. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimated that in 2013, 1.8% of the population, equaling 4.3 million adults over 18 years of age, suffered with this affliction. The CDC also estimated that 1% of those under the age of 18 also have epilepsy. This means that a total of 5.1 million people in the U.S. alone suffer with this problem at a cost of $15.5 billion in healthcare costs each year.

In this case, a 22-year-old woman went to the chiropractor seeking help for her health issues. At that time, she was suffering from daily headaches and was getting a seizure about every third day. Her seizures would last from several minutes to up to an hour. Her medical care for these problems consisted of medications which were largely ineffective.

A chiropractic examination was performed which included a postural analysis, range of motion, orthopedic and neurological tests, thermographic studies, and x-rays. Findings of the test and x-rays were indicative of the presence of subluxation in the woman’s upper neck.

The patient completed a “Quality of Life in Epilepsy” patient survey (QOLIE-89) prior to beginning care to be used as a baseline, and to evaluate changes as care was rendered. On this initial test, the woman’s score was 29.27 indicating a very low quality of life. An average score for epileptic patients is 67.90 for this test.

As soon as chiropractic care was started, the patient reported that she stopped having headaches and no longer had any seizures. This improvement was noted after the very first visit and the patient remained headache-free and seizure-free throughout the course of her care. A follow up QOLIE-89 survey was performed and the woman’s score had increased to 80.715, an improvement in her score of 51.445 points, which is 12.275 points higher than the average.

This case was not an isolated one as the authors also reviewed several previous studies of chiropractic care for people with epilepsy. What they noticed was that, of the 17 cases documented in studies, 14 of those patients who were taking medication for their seizures did not see any benefit. However, when these patients received chiropractic care, 15 of the 17 reported positive outcomes.

In their conclusion the authors wrote, “This case adds to a body of evidence of patient-reported improvements in seizure activity following a course of subluxation based chiropractic care.”

Migraines, Chronic Sinus Congestion, and Teeth Grinding Helped with Chiropractic

Can Children have Migraines? Does Chiropractic Work for Headaches and Migraines?

A case study published in the December 2016 issue of the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics records the case of a young girl suffering from migraine headaches being helped by chiropractic care. In addition to migraines, the patient also received help with sinus congestion and the grinding of teeth.

Migraines, Chronic Sinus Congestion, and Teeth Grinding Helped with Chiropractic - Austin Texas Chiropractor Motor Vehicle Car Truck Injury Accident Lawyer Attorney PIP LOPThe study begins by reporting that migraine headaches are the second most common cause of chronic recurrent headache in school children with a prevalence ranging from 3.2 to 14.5%. Migraines in children are different than adult migraines in that the episodes of children’s migraines are typically of shorter duration and occur on both sides of the head.

The International Headache Society has a list of five criteria for the classification of pediatric migraine without aura. These are:

  1. A minimum of 5 attacks fulfilling features B to D
  2. Headache attack lasting from 2 to 72 hours
  3. Headache has at least 2 of the following 4 features:
    1. Unilateral (frontal/temporal) location commonly bilateral in young children
    2. Pulsating quality
    3. Moderate to severe pain intensity
    4. Aggravated by or causing avoidance of routine physical activity
  4. During the headache at least one of the following:
    1. Nausea and/or vomiting
    2. Photophobia and phonophobia (may be inferred from their behavior)
  5. Not attributed to another disorder

In this case, a 6-year-old girl who was suffering from frequent migraines without aura was brought to the chiropractor. She had been suffering with migraines rated as 5 out of ten, three times per week for the past 6 months. The young girl described the migraine as a diffuse pounding sensation behind her forehead and she felt slightly nauseated. Her parents also reported that their child often ground her teeth at night and was suffering with chronic sinus congestion year round.

Six months after the start of her headaches, a chiropractic examination was performed and care was started. During the first month of care, the child was able to discontinue the ibuprofen she had been taking for her condition. The pain had reduced to a level of two out of ten and the frequency dropped to one headache per week.

Unfortunately, the girl and her family moved further away from the chiropractor and her care was discontinued. During the interruption in care, the girl had a flair-up of headaches which sent her to the hospital and medication was resumed. Several weeks later, her family decided to drive the hour-plus to return to her chiropractor for care.

After the resumption of care, the girl continued to improve to the point where she only experienced occasional mild headaches that did not interfere with her schoolwork or sports activities. Her chiropractic care continued and she was able to discontinue the headache medications. Additionally, her parents reported that their daughter did not grind her teeth as much at night and she wasn’t complaining of mild congestion after going to the pool or playing outside.

Migraines, Tension Headaches, and Arm Pain Resolved with Chiropractic

What To Do With Chronic Headaches? Can Chiropractic Care Help Migraines?

The Chiropractic Journal of Australia published a case study in their June 2016 edition documenting the resolution of long term migraine headaches, tension headaches, and arm pain through chiropractic.

Migraines, Tension Headaches, and Arm Pain Resolved with Chiropractic - Austin Chiropractor celebrity care best reviewsAccording to the study authors, headaches are the most common neurological problem affecting people. According to the World Health Organization, about 47 percent of the population will suffer at least one headache in any given year. Headaches can affect any age group. The study reports that there have been numerous studies showing chiropractic being effective for patients suffering from headaches. However, they note that few studies are available on chiropractic helping the elderly with headaches.

In this study, an 89-year-old man presented himself to the chiropractor for care. The man was suffering from chronic daily tension-type headaches in the front of his head. His headaches had developed into incapacitating migraine headaches every 2 to 3 weeks over the past several years. He also reported suffering from years of chronic right arm and neck pain.

The man’s history included significant trauma, including multiple motor vehicle accidents in 1957 and 1962 in which he suffered fractures in his right arm and spine respectively. The man was a World War II veteran and had suffered a blast injury during an artillery bombardment.

A chiropractic examination was performed which included spinal palpation, a postural and balance assessment, range of motion (ROM), orthopedic and neurological tests, muscle strength and stretch reflexes tests, and sensory and cranial nerve testing. Spinal x-rays were also performed.

Based on the examination findings and x-rays, the diagnosis given was “…chronic daily tension-type headaches, episodic migraines without aura, musculoskeletal neck and arm pain, and concomitant vertebral subluxations.” Chiropractic care was started using a specific adjusting protocol to address the subluxations found.

The study reports that following the first adjustment the patient almost immediately noticed a considerable decrease in the intensity and frequency of his headaches, and arm and neck pain. After six weeks of care, the patient reported that he was continuing to improve and that his headaches were no longer daily and were much less in severity. He also noted that he had not gotten any migraine headaches.

After 12 weeks of care, the patient reported a complete cessation of all headaches and migraines, and also that his arm pain had completely subsided. He commented that he felt a lot more comfortable walking and he had more energy for daily activities. In a one-year follow up, the man reported no further headaches, neck pain, or arm pain.

In their conclusion, the authors wrote, “This case study describes the presentation, chiropractic care provided, and outcomes of care of an 89-year-old male experiencing medically diagnosed chronic daily tension-type headaches, episodic migraines and co-existing musculoskeletal neck and arm pain. The patient reported a cessation of longstanding headaches and musculoskeletal complaints after 12 weeks of chiropractic care.”

Daily Headaches Gone Under Chiropractic Care

Does Chiropractic Care Help Chronic Headaches? Can Children See A Chiropractor?

From the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health comes a study published on May 25, 2015, documenting the case of a young boy with daily headaches being helped by chiropractic. The study begins by noting that between 10-20% of school age children suffer with headaches. This number increases to 27-32% at the age of 13-14 years for a headache within a given month.

Daily Headaches Gone Under Chiropractic Care - Austin TX ChiropractorThe authors report that chronic daily headaches affect 2-4% of adolescent females and 0.8-2% of adolescent males. A diagnosis of chronic daily headaches is made when headaches occur more than 4 hours per day, 15 headache days per month or more, over a period of 3 consecutive months, without an underlying (medical) pathology.

In this case, a 13-year-old boy was brought to the chiropractor by his parents for a consultation and possible care. It was reported that the boy was suffering from headaches every day for several years. There was no history of trauma or any physical injury prior to the onset of the boy’s headaches. The boy’s mother did report her son’s headaches to his MD, who said that they were probably sinus related. However, he did not recommend any treatment or further tests.

A chiropractic examination of the boy was conducted which included a postural inspection, palpation, and range of motion. Based on the examination findings, it was determined that the boy had multiple vertebral subluxations and chiropractic care was initiated.

The boy was initially seen two times per week for the first two weeks. Care was reduced thereafter as improvement was seen. The study reports that the boy’s response was immediate as his headaches stopped as soon as chiropractic care was started. This improvement made an immediate and profound impact on the boy’s quality of life and ability to function.

In their conclusion, the authors wrote, “This case report provides supporting evidence on the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments characterized as high-velocity, low amplitude thrust to sites of vertebral subluxations. We encourage further research on the use of this type of care in children suffering from CH, (chronic headaches).”
